“Advent”, monoprint series, 2024

"Advent" was inspired by the traditional advent calendar—a decorative piece of cardboard, paper, or cloth hung in homes to await Christmas day. Each day holds a special gift or a chocolate, eagerly received upon marking off the day. The artwork comprises cut, painted, and printed advent calendars intertwined with other scraps of paper and string.

"Advent" navigates between memory and the excess of the physical present. By utilizing discarded materials, including an advent calendar, the images undergo a process of redefinition and abstraction through printmaking. The artwork prompts contemplation on themes of identity, religion, and waste. What are the implications for our future from scientific and biblical perspectives?
